TASCAM Recording Technology is Central to the Studio Activities of Mizraim 'Limon' Leal
The lead vocalist/guitarist for Quinto Sol, one of LA's top Reggae bands (originators of Barrio Roots Reggae-a fusion of conscious Cumbia and Barrio Soul music), musician/engineer/producer Mizraim Leal is a longtime enthusiast of TASCAM recording products. Known as 'Limon' to his friends, Leal and Quinto Sol have been the backing band for over thirty local and international reggae artists, including Jamaican musician Sister Nancy, Jamaican singer/songwriter Sister Carol, reggae vocalist Half Pint, and the Jamaican rocksteady band The Melodians to name but a few. Quinto Sol has also shared the stage alongside the incomparable Stevie Wonder. And at the center of Leal's studio activities, there is a sizeable collection of TASCAM gear, including two TASCAM SERIES 8p Dyna 8-channel mic preamps with analog compressor, a SERIES 208i 20 IN/8 OUT USB Audio/MIDI Interface, and a DR-40 4-track handheld audio recorder.
TASCAM is pleased to announce the Version 1.30 firmware update for the Model 12 Integrated Production Suite. As a sophisticated desktop tool for music and multimedia creation, the Model 12 incorporates a mixer with I/O and analog-style controls, multitrack recorder, a USB audio/MIDI interface, DAW control functions, and a wealth of podcasting capabilities including mix-minus and smartphone input capability. With the new V1.30 firmware update, this versatile production tool gains additional functions that further enhance its ability.
The V1.30 firmware update increases the Model 12's DAW control surface integration. This latest update adds Studio One from PreSonus, REAPER from Cockos, Inc., and Cubasis 3.3 from Steinberg. This is in addition to existing support for Avid's Pro Tools, Apple Logic Pro, MOTU (Mark of the Unicorn) Digital Performer, Steinberg Cubase, Ableton Live, and Cakewalk by BandLab. Supported functions include basic external DAW control (Faders, Mutes, Pans, Solos, Record arm, Play, Record, Stop, FF/REW, and Jog) using integrated HUI/MCU protocol emulation for tactile control.
Why does Projazz prefer TASCAM? "TASCAM is a brand of great trajectory, security and, of course, excellent sound quality," Gonzalez reports. "This provides our students the tranquility to start in the world of production without problems, using intuitive digital interfaces that are easy to configure, that feature crystal clear transmission and excellent sound quality. For online classes, we use TASCAM in all our rooms from the smallest to the largest, as in musical ensembles where the interfaces create the bridge with the sound console-generating experience according to current requirements. We are very pleased with the work that can be achieved with this product, and we recommend it 100% for all kinds of features that our world can offer us. We also have the invaluable technical support and backing of Croma Ltda, the brand's representative in Chile, with whom we have worked for many years."
