LOS ANGELES, CA (August 14-17, 2003) -- The X Games IX hits Los Angeles for the first time and TASCAM DJ will be along for the ride! Pro DJs will be on-hand all weekend, showing off the latest in TASCAM DJ gear amidst a backdrop of high-flying skateboarders and daredevil BMXers. The event takes place at five venues throughout the LA area; the main site will be STAPLES Center in downtown LA.

Hip-hop Icon DJ Drez, DJ Davey Dave (UBERZONE DJ), and the insanely talented/insanely beauteous DJ Katrina will be spinning daily, Thursday - Sunday, at the TASCAM DJ booth (near EXPN Center in STAPLES Center).

DJ Drez is a respected pioneer of the West Coast underground hip-hop movement. In his 10 years-plus as a DJ, Drez has spun for such groundbreaking artists as Black Eyed Peas, Aceyalone and The Freestyle Fellowship, as well as Bahamadia and KRS-1. The turntable techniques of Drez have been immortalized on volumes upon volumes of "mix-tapes" for which he is most famous. Armed with a TASCAM XS-8 and 2 turntables, Drez is currently on tour with Aceyalone and Abstract Rude.

DJ Davey Dave's terrifying turntable techniques can be heard on the classic BT track "Mad Skillz," and on ?berzone's discs, Faith in the Future and The Digital Mix. Otherwise, you can witness his moves live on tour when he plays with ?berzone. When he's not in the studio or on tour, he's helping Tascam with the development of its new series of DJ mixers, which includes the X-9 and XS-8, amongst other mixers. He's also working on a solo mix CD that will showcase some of his influences beyond the nu-skool-breaks scene.

Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and raised in Orange County California, DJ Katrina has been spinning since the early 90's. Beginning with Hip Hop, she transitioned into the House music scene, spinning Hard Trance/House/and Techno. Katrina is a big fan of TASCAM's X-9 mixer, because of its ease-of-use and multitude of unique features. In addition, TASCAM will be raffling off gear-an XS-8 scratch mixer and two CD-GT1 Portable CD Guitar Trainers to three lucky winners at the event.
