In Perfect Harmony: TASCAM Sonicview 16 at RTVS Studio, Banská Bystrica, Slovakia

In the heart of Slovakia, the RTVS Studio in Banská Bystrica stands as a beacon of innovation in radio and television production. Recently, a pivotal upgrade was introduced to their recording and post-production facility – the TASCAM Sonicview 16.

A Symphony of Solutions

The choice of the Sonicview 16 was not arbitrary. RTVS, synonymous with quality broadcasting, entrusted this project to the seasoned hands of Audiomaster, s.r.o. as the distributor and Sunteq, s.r.o. as the system integrator.

The Sonicview 16 swiftly integrates into the studio's ecosystem, connecting seamlessly to an Apple MacMini via USB and assuming the role of a CoreAudio unit. ProTools Studio takes the helm as the Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).

Not just a mixing console, the Sonicview 16 became the maestro orchestrating the studio's functions. Fader Start is used to command the studio and control room lights through the mixer's GPIO outputs. GPIO inputs are harnessed to initiate the DIM switch which lowers the overall output level when Talkback is activated externally. Dante, coupled with the AVIO / AES/EBU adapter, dances effortlessly for audio metering, demonstrating the Sonicview 16's versatility.

The Echo of Choice: TASCAM Sonicview 16

The decision to adopt the TASCAM Sonicview 16 was strategic. Drawing from past experiences with Yamaha DM1000 consoles in similar setups, RTVS sought a cost-effective alternative within the same price range. The Sonicview 16 emerged as the victor, impressing the team at RTVS.

The customer said: "Having used Yamaha DM1000 mixers before, we were looking for a cost-effective alternative. The Sonicview 16 not only met our budget but also exceeded our expectations in terms of performance."

Post-Installation Crescendo

As the Sonicview 16 took center stage in the studio, the post-installation reviews were harmonious. The system delivered on its promises, seamlessly integrating into the studio's workflow.

"The Sonicview 16 delivers as promised," the person responsible for the technology in the studio says.

One of the Key Players: Connectivity

The Sonicview 16 seamlessly connects to an SPL 2Control monitor controller, leading the audio signals to two EVE Audio SC307 speakers with a complementing EVE Audio TS112 subwoofer. Microphone inputs were meticulously sourced from wallboxes in two studios, while headphones mixes for the studios are orchestrated through Sonicview outputs via audio matrix mixes. A Bantam patch panel is currently managing all inputs and outputs on the Sonicview with finesse.

Expectations for the Future

As the studio continues to evolve, the team at RTVS envisions even greater possibilities. While satisfied with the Sonicview 16, they eagerly anticipate TASCAM's future enhancements. A key suggestion for the future lies in the integration of DAW control features. "We anticipate that TASCAM's commitment to continuous improvement will lead to the integration of DAW control in the Sonicview series, making it an even more versatile tool for audio professionals in the future."

In the heart of Banská Bystrica, the TASCAM Sonicview 16 now stands as a testament to the harmony achieved when cutting-edge technology meets the creative spirit of broadcast professionals at RTVS. The studio's journey into a new era of audio excellence continues, guided by the orchestration of the TASCAM Sonicview 16.
